What a wonderful surprise to be called into the original home of Virginia Woolf. I met Louise when I contracted her to supply the blinds for a residential design project and she was inspired to make her own home more contemporary in style.
Images, design and furnishings
Exploded in my mind, while sitting on the original tree trunk under which the great author penned one of her books.
Designing around several pieces of Italian antique furniture, inspiration came from the colours of the hand made Italian floor tiles. We did not stray far from the original, agreed mood board that suggested a Transitional design style, blending curved pieces with clean lines, juxtaposing grey with muted yellow and greens and fabrics of mixed textures.
The new update included a separated kitchen, light reflecting paints, mood enhancing sensory lighting and masses of new storage space. Featured walls with contemporary wall paper completed the new look.
We believe that Virginia Woolf, the foremost contemporary writer of her time would have approved.
